bulletMechanical oscilations - the Pendulum

A system will be able to make oscilations if the internal energy can be stored in two (or more) different forms.

An oscilation will take place as the energy changes from one form to another.

In case of the pendulum will the Energy be stored as potential energy (m*g*h) in the outhermost positions (where the mass gain most height from the point of equilibrium = lowest point)

As the mass accelerates will the potential energy change form to kinematic energy (½*m*v2)

If theres no energy lost during the oscilations will it swing forever. However will friction from the surrounding air course energy to be lost, and the oscilation will die out gradualy.

Electrically oscilations - the LRC-circuit

When the switch in upper right corner closed will energy be stored in the coil as magnetic energy.
There will run an electric current through the winding and the magnetic field will depend on this current.

When the switch is opened agin will the current be forced to run through the resistor and the Capacitor.
The Capacitor will recieve and store energy from the coil in form of electric energy.

When finally the current become zero will all energy (exept the percentage which was lost in the resistor)
be stored as electric energy.

Now the coil acts as a short-circuit of the capacitor and a current in the oppersite direction will begin to
build up and increase until the voltage across the capacitor become zero.

The will go on "forever" until all energy lost in the resistor.
